Our Vocational Support Programme Swayam focuses on equipping individuals recovering from Mental Illness with skills that are important in a workplace environment
The programme is run on an employee-employer basis with an emphasis on vocational aspects and is designed to use both real-life situations and therapeutic means to achieve vocational goals
Eligible individuals are taken through values, skills and other aspects of workplace training and in parallel with regular therapeutic interventions
Training starts with English-speaking skills, Computer skills and General Management topics like Time Management, Communication Skills, Grooming, Conflict Resolution and Personal Mission Statements
The training is centered around case studies that are taken up for discussion. Appreciation of English Literature is used as a tool to impart English-speaking skills. Computer skills are imparted with hands-on training in Microsoft Office. Professional skills such as work etiquette, accountability and reporting to authority are also part of the lesson plans
The next phase is an internship to provide practical experience. Once an individual’s area of vocational interest is identified, a matching workplace is then found for placement so that they can learn and grow from real life situations and experiences. The internship is closely monitored by the team to ensure progress and success
