As we all know the pandemic brought almost everything to stand-still, making the use of digital technology a crucial part of everyone's life. As a Mental Health organisation, we also recognised the importance of using technology to provide support and help to our target population. Before the pandemic, using a digital platform to offer psychosocial support to our clients was not considered an ideal method. However, the pandemic forced us to adapt and find ways to make the best use of the available resources. We began working on digital platforms with the belief that "something is better than nothing." Our goal was to provide some form of support to our clients during this unprecedented difficult time. Initially, we had no expectations for the success of our online endeavours. As we progressed towards our goal of providing support, the potential of digital technology for the purpose of rehabilitation became clear to us. We found that conducting rehabilitation providing interventions through digital channels is a viable model in the absence of in-person facilities. It became evident that our reach extended far beyond what we had anticipated. People living with Mental Illness or struggling with Mental Health issues, regardless of geographical limitations, age-related challenges or physical disabilities, were able to access our services. The digital platform allowed us to bridge the gap and reach individuals who would have been unable to access rehabilitation services. It opened doors for those who were isolated and unable to physically attend therapy sessions. Through this experience, we have learned the power of digital technology in expanding access to Mental Health support. We have seen first-hand the impact it can have on individuals' lives. Based on our experience, we have determined that “digital rehabilitation” will be offered to those in need, and provided based on specific criteria to ensure that our services are accessible to those outside our physical reach. The pandemic has shown us that sometimes, going beyond our traditional methods can lead to remarkable results.
Rehabilitation & Therapy
Objective: To effectively reach people living with Mental Illness and individuals in need of Mental Health support facing barriers such as geographical limitations, age-related challenges, or physical disabilities, To make rehabilitation services more accessible to the people living with Mental Illness or Mental Health issues. To provide affordable Mental Healthcare services.
Rationale: As we are aware in recent years, Mental Health issues and the number of individuals affected by Mental Illness have risen significantly in our society. However, the availability of comprehensive and affordable rehabilitation services which are an important part of recovery and treatment has not kept pace with this growing demand. Reflecting on our journey through the COVID pandemic, we've come to realise that it is important to address this gap. Our experience has inspired us to launch a Digital Rehabilitation Programme alongside our existing Rehabilitation centre on a day care basis at MANAV Foundation. As an organisation invested in Mental Health care and treatment, the strain caused by the disproportion between the rising need for comprehensive and affordable rehabilitation services and the limited resources at hand, is well known to us. Through our expertise and commitment, we aim to meet the growing demand for accessible and comprehensive Mental Health Rehabilitation services.
